Although the Mircon retained the stubby proportions of earlier shavers, the design introduced significant developments that would become characteristic for the category. The ridged switch, in particular, is considerably enlarged - closer to a surface than a button. This established the formal and technical conditions for a number of variations exploring the possibility of switch functioning panels that also opened the possibily of switch-within-switch arrangements. Of equal importance is the introduction of the raised dot texture spread across the whole housing, rather than, as before, offering discrete ridged ‘grip’ areas.
